i wanna track down an item like that as my ratchet spanner i used had a bit of play and still took a long time.
and as for the timing chain cover, i told you it didnt need to come off then you said you need to loosen the tensioner, which i confirmed then you said the cover doesnt need to come off.... exactly what i said in the first place... And Walker, i said you dont "NEED" to take the radiator out. if your getting it cleaned then you obviously will.. ive read a couple of run downs on how to do a head gasket and it said to remove it. maybe to make things easier? not having a go at anyone but things need to be read properly |

u can use a 10 mm ring spanner and get it by taking the airbox out and sliding ur hand in under the intake manifold on ef-el's
did it last night had no dramers. just do the bottom ones first . |

OKay lads, made a little start today. I'm just wondering what needs to be done before I remove the battery (and power) from the car, besides removing the oil?

Hmmm, I thought my Gregory's had a section on head gasket replacement, but it doesn't. What's a good manual that takes you through every step?

along with the oil empty the water.
that just start ripping things off lol. if possible try to take things off in assemblies rather that pulling them all apart if you donr need to. (does that make sense??) the big part i mean is try get the inlet manifold off in one piece. you will have to take the p/s pump off the bracket but dont undo any of the lines or anything like that.

Ahhhh, so I can keep my power steering fuel hey? Sounds jolly good.
Hmmm, I guess that is sort of a how to on page 52 snap. Thing is folks I forgot to relieve pressure on the fuel system before starting to pull everything apart. This is a concern, right?

nah its fine.
itll just pour out the rail, wont quirt. might loose 250-400ml or so.

no need to remove timing case at all, just undo both sets of manifold bolts from the head and leave them there no need to dismantle at all, the head just slides out from in between them.
use a tie of some type (i use a zip tie) to hold the cam chain to the cam gear, then undo the cam gear bolt, then the chain tensioner. and then just pull the gear off the cam. as mentioned single hex 14mm socket NOTHING ELSE, it will cause more problems then anything if u dont use one. takes about an hour to take head off when re assembling, oil the threads of NEW head bolts with lube supplied, if no lube is given just use clean motor oil and also put a lil squirt of oil on the underside of the head bolts where it tightens on to the head. Hope it helps you a bit more, its actully quite a fun job to do |

Lol, well I was all excited until I started, just so much crap in front of me, and I'm easy to forget to do things. When I take my radiator out and reinstall, I usually forget to tighten atleast one clamp, lol.

thats the one.
that mark on the cam gear will be just above the head, about 3mm or so? cable tie that chain and get started!
