hi guys,
im a bit of a noob to this i have only ever loved fords. Wanted one for ages so now ive bought a brand new fg xr6 ute with the intention to super charge it however i have since been convinced that due to lack of fabrication options im probably better off adding an aftermarket turbo i have 10 g to sink into this puppy and i like the idea of adding all o this aftermarket and just turning this thing into a commodore eater. Basicly i just want to know where i should startlike brands and stuff.

Has anyone else done this or know of anyone who has done this trading the car for an xr6t is not an option!
I cant wait to have all this work done. My only concern is the lag of the turbo of the line i wanna know what i can do to minimise this like i said i wanna show holden drivers why they are batting for the wrong team. cheers guys.

I wouldnt be looking to the aftermarket, I'd just be looking at getting some XR6T or F6 parts and bolting them on and starting there.

Its probably going to be a lot easier and cheaper to either:
A) buy an xr6 turbo, or
B) go find some xr6 turbo parts and bolt away. Remember it will more than likely cost more than you think.
Then theres tuning........ bye bye wallet....

Cheers

Sam

Totally forgot about that.
Yeah that 10k budget is not gonna cut it if you want a worked beast.
The t56 istelf is around 5-6k.
EFFalcon can tell you how much everything costs. On that topic, how much did the current setup youve got cost you EF?

Cheers

Sam

i did mine on the cheap, most DIY and 2nd hand parts.
so its not really comparable.
I'm guessing its already got a 6 speed in it, but there are differences between the turbo/V8 6 speed and the n/a 6 speed.
now if you're looking to go aftermarket then you must be keen to push more power then your average xr6t.

which to me suggests up around 300rwkw (otherwise whats the point of not just getting an xr6t anyway)

300rwkw through a N/A 6 speed auto probably won't be nice.

if its a 6 speed manual, probably a different story, but consider the cost of a decent clutch for starters and you start to see your budget dissapear.

thanks guys for your replies i am not to keen on selling it yet as i purchased it not 4 weeks ago hell bent on charging it however have been talked out of it because chargers for this model are virtually non existent. however the money thing is not an issue i could easily double that budget however where i'm looking to get the work done my uncle conveniantly works there so as long as im prepared to take some time off and help with the project im able to keep the costs pretty decent and as i also have a second job with a leading auto parts store on weekends with a nice discount card the project seems within reach.

i was hoping the end product would be closer to 400 kws, i know this is a roundabout kind of way to do this so i just really wanted peoples take on the situation and recommendations, ultimately this car is going to be worked its just a matter of how. and its the six speed auto however im told it can handle a bit as they were the gearboxes in the r spec gt cobras a few years back so im told any way.

i'm pretty sure the 6 speed auto's in the N/A 6's arn't as strong as the Turbo/V8 box.
but i guess thats something for you to look into.
