The Ford ones are far better than the aftermarket ones. You would have to expect that though, considering they cost twice as much. I recently replaced the retainers on mine and found that the aftermarket ones that were about 18months old were rather shagged indeed.

I had to replace three of them because the tips of them fell out whilst removing from the rocker arm. Buy the Ford OEM ones.

A couple of years ago, I replaced all the lifters in my old EA 6. I had a friend who was spare parts manager for a very large Ford dealer. He was getting me parts at cost. Told me to buy my replacement lifters from repco, as they were cheaper than ford cost price and better quality, so I did and had no problems for over 80000kms.

There may be a few diferent aftermarket companies that make them though. I mean you can't try one and then say there all crap.

How much of that is labour and how much is lifters? I mean if it's 700 for lifters and 40 labour then I'd buy aftermarket lifters and pay them 40 to install them. Or if the lifters are 40 and labour is 700 i'd buy genuine lifters and get someone else to install it. Basically my point is there labour may be a bargain but there parts not, or parts a bargain and there labour not. By the way, it's a peice of piss to change the lifters.
