fuel pump might have not exactly enjoyed being run dead low.. fuel filter could be clogged as well, some crap on the bottom of the tank might have been sucked through into the filter and now it could be blocked.

also what grade oil are you using? the oil might be too thin hence the ticking

I was going to suggest putting a new fuel filter since you ran the tank near empty as SgtBourne said. Also, since you put a different engine in, the fuel rail (assuming you used the fuel rail of the "newer" motor) could have been sitting there for a while and collected deposits of dirt. Now you have more gunk circulating through your fuel system.

You sure one of your lifters ain't stuck?

phong =P~

the car was only off the raod for 2 weeks before i took the engine out and put it in mine. i told the mechanic today that i ran it almost empty and told him to replace the fuel pump as well lol. i only thought of it last night though ah well im just glad his doing it and not me. also i asked him to have a look at the lifters and see what he thinks.

cheers for all of your help guys hopefully i will have her bake and running in no time. as i have just put all new super low king spring and stiffer lowered shocks all round. and hardend sway bars. so should be a big handeling improvment

It could also be the tickers that are located around the engine: $300 to replace them or get your mechanic to buy a $15 can of grease that actually greases the tickers and eliminates that terrible fan like tick noise when your driving.

Cant remember if they are called tickers or not but thats what i call them and they are about as half as big as your middle finger and after 2 days of getting this stuff poured into my motor oil the noise went away, if the noise doesn't go within 14days then it may of failed and replacing them is the only other option.

PS: u cant go out and buy this stuff its for mechanic trades only.
