a well looked after oiled guaze filters will do a very good job. just remember the harder you drive the more often you need to oil them.

These tests where they do comparo's ive seen them to, dont take em for gospel, some of the methods are questionable, some use a peice of white cloth and a 'Look" measurement to decide which filters more.

some are sponsored and conducted by companies themselves.

Just service the filter every 5k klms and it will do fine. never use too much oil or it will suck into intake coating things.

paper wont filter as good as the k's go by, as bigger and bigger holes (we are talking micron size) are punched in it by high speed particles. get a 5k air and a 5k oil filter and i bet its a different story on filtration.

paper is used by manufacturers because its cheap, and recomended by mechs because its a regular swap, and thus source of income.

maybe you take a trip to outerlimits.com do a search for filters and read every thing a guy called ISUZUROVER says. he worked in filter design and reaserch for years. and knows his stuff..........

You cant go past a Fram Air Hog induction for maximum wheelspin

On a serious note, my KN Pod hasnt been cleaned since i bought it, and is chock full of bug guts and leaves cause of my cold air induction, and the car still pulls good numbers on the dyno, so they must have some pretty big friggin holes in the filter :)

I work on cars daily for a living and not only are pod filters a defect (in SA at least anyway) they are the reason i have seen one bad engine bay fire and one car totally burn to the ground. Nice pod filters hey? Refer to sig !
