why don't you just recond the old head?
I pulled mine off and it was in perfect nick, then got it shimmed and a minor port and polish.

cos i need the car running all the time

idea would be pull of my head, put new head on, then sell my original head if its all ok

might even just swap over a whole motor yet

Thats a fair reason, however, if you let some head reconditioners about time constraints then they might be able to get it to you real quick...

Just a thought thats all.

Does alted even do heads?

well boys I got the news today.. unfortunatly its a beer of comiseration that will be had..

she has been written off.. bastards reacon tickford gear is just to expensive to replace, got quoted at 10 grand repair not including labour.. I think its crap.. the car is being delivered home soon..

so there may well be a full package avalible thorough Jaysen at ALTED or a Stage 3 cam valve springs and wait for it..

Tickford head..

yeah its coming off mycar.. the bastard insurance companies can get stuffed if they think they are getting that gear.. I will just whack a standard cam and head on there. and my old rocker cover.. and pretend I know nothing.

well thats the plan.. if they want anything else they have to come through me first..

I already know I'm gonna get raped on the write off price, so I will see it as returning the favour.

comments and suggestions please...

Swap the cam back to original XR6 and leave the head on it... Let it go to auction and buy it back as is... If someone bids more and doesnt get what they want, they will be very p****d off...

Insurance will rape your a*** if you pick stuff off it that they know about... You might try to stand up to them, but they will knock you down quicker than you could even consider...

s**t dude, sorry to hear about the car! What's on the cards next? Another XR?

Hmmm anyways, I might be interested in the Tickford head with Stage 3 cam/valve springs. Will have to see what $$$

I'm hearing you south.. I think the tickford cam back in is a wiser option.. but it would be nice to put one back on the insurance companies.. but the its not my insurer. so what would they know what was ment to be on the car.. for all they know it could be a modified standard head.

Put the crummiest cracked EA 3.9 head on there, with stocko cam and keep the Tickford Cam even :)
