you will need to pull the rocker gear, cam can stay, you will need a spring compressor. Gregorys will tell you the other tools required.

i would try disconnecting the breathers from the rocker cover first.
may just have a faulty PCV.
i just swapped engines thinking my rings were f**k (it needed to go anyway lol) but i just had a s**t of oil in my manifold.
i found i had heaps of smoke coming out after starting it up say when going to work, or when coming home from work, but in between was only a tiny bit of oil.
so i think there was just oil pooling in the manifold from the PCV breather.

heres a vid of how much it smoked after being at work. (around 9 hours)

i had a similar issue with my old engine, but it wasnt the pcv, it was excessive blow by on cold start up, it was pumping oil and oil vapour through the pcv and intake breather flooding the manifold with oil, but as metal expands with heat the problem would seem to have dissapear once the engine was warm...

Mine does quite a similar thing also. Leave it sit for a day or so then fire up and give a few revs (not that much still being cold) and it just plumes blue smoke. But doesn't do it as much or very very little when warm. But seems to have a mind of its own when it wants to do it. I noticed after extended idle also, then blew a bit when I opened up the taps going from 1st to 2nd or even between gear changes at high rpm for that matter. Ive been told it could be my valve seals. But when I get the chance I'm gonna do a compression test and post up the results to see what other blokes reckon.

Cheers.

Sam.
