I ...as says in profile...have an AU series 1...MOFU of a car has decided that it doesnt need 2nd or top gears for some reason and only uses 1st and 3rd. I believe this means it is in limp mode....could this be because the alternater sheared on of the mounting bolts...lost another of the mounting bolts and was kind of flapping around making the fan belt scream at me like a wife on the night you aren't supposed to have sex.
I also have an intermittent fault with my headlights where I have to tap the light to make it come on...If I replace the bulbs it stops for a while but eventually starts doing it again.....HEEELLLLLP me...PLEASE...fanx...love ya

Well fitting another alternator hasn't changed the fact that it still only has 1st and 3rd gears.
It feels like it drops into second but there is no drive when you put your foot on the throttle. Kind of like it is in neutral but you can feel it drop back into first if you plant it

I would suggest first cleaning the plugs that go to the gearbox and inhibitor switch with sensor cleaner or wd40 . Next check transmission fluid. If it's still doing it after this it could be the tps (throttle position sensor) or inhibitor switch that sits on the left hand side of gearbox were the selector shaft is. Other than that something may be seriously wrong with your gearbox. Not sure if a service would work by the sounds of it but maybe worth a shot. Oh..usually it comes out of limp mode by taking battery terminal off. You may have to fix the problem before it resets though.

Let us know how ya go...
