Hey Doofus, no problem.

gryph, thats a matter of opinion. Some of us prefer the K- Frame mod and some prefer the Sump Mod. Had I been able to do the Sump Mod myself, I would have. But being alloy, it would have cost me an extra $150. Where as the K-Frame mod I could do. I had a limited budget. + I had to buy the alternator.

it's a matter of keeping the car legal or not. weaken the k-frame or pay $150 to have the sump done. not a hard choice really. part with the $150 and have a car will still be insured if you have a crash.

modding the k-frame is just stupid

So its a positive NO that my 1636 cam wont fit an AU head? If so, that'll suck :S
Have the same sort of idea ACIDIC has..keep it on the engine stand for a while

im not 100% but if you use the rocker assembly from the engine with the 1636 cam it should work out ok..
afaik the only difference is the rocker ratios...

it would fit in the head. but due the the AU having a 1.8.1 rocker ratio, lift, overlap, ect would be reduced

Hey Tickford_6 and Gryph I agree that the engine sump mod is better, but like I said the extra cash I did not have.

Anyway, I had it done by my engineer mate who ensured it was correct. There is nothing wrong with modding the k-frame and other bits such as chassis, so long as it is done correct.

Anyway, to this day many people are saying that modding the K-Frame make it weaker, yet no one has any documentary evidence.

ACIDIC, you should not really need to do anything else other than what the tech doco and my message say. If anything, the modded sump will make the whole thing easier.

Modding the k-frame doesnt make it weaker, if done properly. Dont ask me what properly is cuz im no engineer but there would be a way to mod it and still keep the same front end strength. Im not sure on the differences in laws between Vic and Nsw but i hope your engineer mate is willing to sign off on a cert for it. Cuz im certain modding chassis/K-frame is something that needs an eng cert in Vic.
