Hi all,

Looks like this new EL needs a headgasket (bit of white oil) and I'm wanting to put an AU MLS gasket in.....

Is ford the only ones making those? Also does anyone sell ford parts like gaskets/headbolts cheaper than ford themselves?

Just thought I'd ask.... can't hurt... money is tight so if anyone knows how to get the MLS gasket cheaper I'd love to hear it..

ta

Gasket was $85 the other day.
Best off buying that and then a headgasket + bolt kit from ebay for $100, you get every other gasket that way, exhaust, intake, bbm, rocker + a heap of others.

Guess I'll have to ring around and see who is selling the ford one cheapest..

65 bucks would be perfect. :-)

I miss the old fashioned reusable head bolts though...

There are a bunch of gasket kits on ebay for 59 dollars (no bolts though)

so I could get the Ford AU gasket and bolts, one of those cheap kits for everything else.

I have the rest of this ghia ready for rego now, just need to get the gasket done..

once it's registered and has the gas put in and my 3k from the government.. I will finally be able to bolt the super charger in..... can't wait...

i don't understand why you can't reuse the headbolts, my old man did the head gasket on his EA and he reused the headbolts and hadn't / hasn't had a drama.

headbolts are torque to yield ie they stretch when you do then up the first time.
try to re use them and you cant get an accurate measurement with a torque wrench, so you dont know how tight they are.

coventries are probably more expensive than ford direct... I'll call them though.

I'm not worried about the other gaskets.. I have spares here from last time.. I'm just concerned about the headgasket and bolts as this engine will have a supercharger bolted in as soon as it's over the pits.

I used the contact form at 6 perth ford deals and only one got back to me..

also did the same with coventries and they didn't get back to me either.

I think I've got one lined up now though.
