Hi. I want to put an AU Xr6 engine into my EF; I heard there is a member of these forums that modifies them to fit into EF k-frames. The budget is $1000 for engine and $1000 for a gearbox and lsd. Where would I find a T5 gearbox and what would be the ideal ratio for the diff? I want to put all this in myself and I'm happy with the current diff housing. I might have some leway with budget if absolutely necessary.
Before any thread nazi's start criticising me for not researching, it seems the search engien doesnt take the words 'EF ' or 'AU' .
I look forward to help in advance or advice.

if you can do the work yourself $1000 should easily get you and AU HP engine in your car, I have seen many go for around $400 bare, which leaves heaps for other expenses which are sure to pop up (assuming you want to use EF electronics?). Manual conversions with ecu usually go for around $1000 if they're in good condition from later e series models. Diff i am unsure about but I am pretty sure you would have to either buy an LSD or if you want it rebuilt get someone to do it unless you know what your doing with respect to clearances, setting preloads etc

Seriously do people google "f**k up modifications for Fords owned by Jews" and get linked straight to this site nowadays?

Does bare mean with water pump, acessories etc? At the moment I'm not having much sucess with forums or eBay locating a suitable t5 gearbox for my car; I would like to use my current ECU if I can; is it easy to set the Xr6 parameters or dynotune it with the stock unit (i.e. whats the cheapest piggyback) ?
Is there anywhere in Sydney that specialises in second hand or reco AU motors including the Tickford ones?

There are quite a few wreckers in Sydney that claim to specialize in Fords, but try talking to Tony at Macarthur Parts Plus at Narellan first. He's pretty good to talk to, tell him what you want [incl g/box etc] and be sure to tell him you were steered there from "Fordmods". They not only have a fast fitting service [which you may not want] but they do give 6mths/25k warranty and a good rep which is more of a comfort than many, who'll take your money and forget you. Try finding Autotrader.com.au [part of Trading Post] and use their search engine. Ipswich Spares claim to have a number of tested T5s in stock for $330 ea and Boss Wrecking in Qld the same. I have be trying to find a cactus box to do a mock up of a hydraulic clutch setup for the forum but all I can find are good ones
Cheers,
Paul
