d**k smack!

all that is needed is an complete AU engine

u will need to modify the AU sump and the EF cross member for it to fit other than that all is sweet

slick the AU engine has a much strnger bottom end and better flowing head (XR ) than the e series
and a much better basis for performance mods.

Yes can do all myself just want to know options.

Should be able to use EF sump on AU block so won't have to do any sump mods or cross member mods or is there some difference between blocks?

If I get a AU XR6 motor (bare) will all my bolt on's fit eg crank angle sensor, alt, air, belts, pulleys etc?

You cant use the EF sump - the caps are different shapes.

I personally wouldnt bother with an AU into EF/EL.

ops, must of hit a sore spot!

I wouldn't bother, better of spending it on a port job & cam. more kws for your $$$. the au bottom end is tough but what type of power figures you're after & how much you're willing to spend to make it worth while. that is the option.

sorry but the AU standard & XR6 motor is hard to come by down here. low Ks can go as high as $2000 including shipping, get the picture!

Low k's for $900, the lows they're talking about is not low k's at all.

So let's say you keep the EF engine, do the headwork, give it hell, blow a head gasket. Oh s**t that right there is about $800 to fix if you can't to it yourself. Makes the cost of the AU engine not seem so bad. AU engines are a dime a dozen in victoria, and postage would be minimal (just come over and get it sheesh).

Use an AU head gasket when putting it back together after headwork and it wont blow.

LOL @ Slick.

I just put an AU motor into mine, and it cost bugger all to do, and goes way better than it did before.

If my engine ever shat itself, I would totally go the AU XR6 motor as a replacement (would try to hunt down a VCT :) )

But, yeah, sorry, I kind of agree with the guys who are saying spend the cash on the motor you've got.

Unless it's totally shagged or a high kay jobbbie, then it's pretty keen buying...

But hey, I can totally see where your coming from.

An AU XR6 motor (smoother, with a lot less k's pressumably) for $1,000 has got to better bang for your bucks than headers and exhaust for the same amount...
