hello all...
I recently lost my licence for a lengthy period of time... and have now decided to make my ghia a project... so my new daily driver is now going to be a kf laser... nothing like my ghia... but cheaper at the pump... anyway back to the topic... i am now planning to spend around 30 - 40k on my el over the next 3 years and am still currently in the planning stage... my wish is to twin turbocharge and supercharge an inline 6... now i know im going to need to spend Alot of monry on crank and pistons for them to be able that much forced induction... but my main question is wether to go dual or single OHC... single is obviously the cheaper option and there world be more bonnet room for the forced induc. components... would there be a huge difference between the dual and single OHC? also if anyone from adelaide knows of a specialist in the area of building tough ford 6 blocks... any info would be much appreciated... thanks all... half this project is now on paper and production... or rather destruction of the fabulous fairmont should commence within the next month or so...

put a typhoon or BA XR6T into it , can use the BA ECU and then it can all be legal. no chance of getting a early motor with with turbo & aftermarket ecu pass an engineer

yeh, if you get a factory turbo 6 into your e-series, it will absolutely hammer.

im just wondering why you said you lost your license and yor then say you have a kf laser as your daily? if your planning to drive without a license, i dearly hope you get caught and get what is coming to you.

back on topic. 30-40k is a lot for a 19yo to spend over 3 years. however if your serious, wait a little longer and see what a few guys ar eputting togeather in regards to BA enginers in e series, theres a few in motion atm and should fill ina few holes.

thankyou all for your help so far... so my obvious choice would be a factory turbo engine... but because fords dont come out supercharged from the factory would i still be able to get an engineers cert? or would twin t supercharged just be too much grunt for any street car... if so ill have to stick with just twin turbo....

and NO gaz i will not be driving unlicensed... this will be my daily whilst the fairmont remains in project status...

once agin i am really appreciating the help... so now my research will mainly be in the problems that people are having with fitting the ba engines into the e series... also if there is enough room for two turbos and a supercharger.... maybe i might have to do some engine bay mods... extend?... but then we go back to engineer cert.... as i said guys still putting pen to paper... but am serious about this project... as interior is also getting a few k spent on as it will include tvs and an xbox... i plan to blow and show up all holdens in sa and show everybody how tough a for can sound, cruise, look...

Just out of curiosity, why supercharge and twin turbocharge? For that matter, why two turbos? Do you have any power figures you're aiming for?

go with a F6 motor. They have some serious power. Stock they were 280kw and after chipping them you can get 360rwkw without anyother modds.

I have the same question as some of the other guys here. Why super and turbo? The single turbo that ford are using is really good enough.

There are some cars around here on the forums doing 250kw on a stock motor and a single garret t3/t4 hybrid turbo. Some have even got 451rwkw.......

It will pay to do your research.
Where abouts in SA are ya. Im in aberfoyle Park and if ya need a hand i will be willing to lend it...but u have to give it back

Please dont offer advice when you obviously have no idea. Its not helping anyone.

Do some more reading on twin charging mate. There are benefits to be had if your up for the work of getting it to work.

Head over to www.performanceforums.com and search for posts by stockymcstock.

He has twin charged an RB30DET. Using an RB30 bottom end, RB25 head, blower off a commodore and a pretty big turbo. He makes 5 psi from idle and has a massive power band. Its good stuff but a lot of headaches/custom bracketry to get it all working.

Honestly if it was me, buy an XR6T motor, in a few months there will be proven ways to get the stock ECU to work, use an edit, get some big brakes, nice wheels, bodykit, leather interior and paint then get it all engineered. Use any money you have left over on pistons, rods, turbo mods, valve springs and a big fuel system and you should make 380-400rwkw reliably.

Or the smart option is to save your cash now, sell the fairmont and start saving for a house where any money you spend wont be lost.

not really aiming for any power figures... i want something that noone has done and will be unique... as people have said... there are ALOT of people with just a single and f6 producing around 300rwkw... i dont care if i only get 400 rwkw with 2 turbos and a surpercharger... its the fact that whenever someone will look at it their jaw will drop... and that everyone will have heard of it... if i get around 500 rwkw i will be ecstatic... this is alot more than enough for a street legal machine... people may call me a dreamer now but once its complete im sure they'll bite their tongue and gaze in amazement... thats the effect i want from every holden.. and even ford fan out there...

ps thanks for the info dansedgli... already have a house on mortgage tho and am currently renting it out....

stomper i live in modbury and am still a beginner with cars... my help only reaches certain things as wiring up thermos to a switch... servicing trans, diff, engine etc... changing springs, push rods and tapets... other than that detailing a car but as far as engine conversions... head replacements, boring, porting or any of that im a virgin to so this car will be my first for that... hope to do as much of that myself but if ur willing to give a hand then i will offer the same in return...

also on my last post i said 500rwkw... i meant to get that out of an egine but also have reliability come with that...

Stomper, f6 came with 270kw@thefly, which means probably about 225rwkw. No way your gonna get an increase of 135rwkw with just an edit.

i'd be inclined to say about $2,500 - $3000 spent on a tuned edit, exhaust system and intake to get into the 12's. Maybe more for a better intercooler however like you say, it still isn't really a lot of money spent to get those figures.

Ah, how I love Tassie where we don't have the need to do sexual favours or bride engineers to get our cars legal...
