Started to dissasemble the rocker gear from my AU motor and I noticed that the lifters in these motors don't have a dust cap and I cant figure out which part is the retainer. The top of them looks different to the lifters from an EL engine I have

They have a small clip arount the top of the lifter though, I guess this is the part I have to take off?

Here a stupid looking diagram I made in paint, the clip I'm looking at is in the red box

Yeah its hard to see but the EL lifter has a slight chamfer before the groove where the retainer sits where as the AU one dosen't!

Cheers for the help! :)

Ah well, done it!

Punched the lifter/shim out
removed retainer
inserted original shim and a new one
Replaced HLA
Taped it up!

*Crosses fingers!*

ED from the 01/04/1994 to the end of AU use the same lifter, they may have changed slightly the design or sourced from a different company but that's about it.
