Hey I have been reading and have found that the au has bad air induction. Many people say that you should put a ba xr6t snorkel on it and I was wondering will it change it that much or do you need to change the air box and all?
And about how much would this cost because I am still at school and I am doing an apprenticeship so
I don't have much cash :)
Is my best bet eBay or wreckers?

Won't do much difference...maybe better throttle response. Doubt you'll get any killer wasps out of it.

All intake in modern vehicles are COLD AIR INTAKES. Just aftermarket ones either look better, give better flow via bigger snorkel such as a SS induction/growler kits or bigger/better pipe work from box to throttle body.

Won't make much difference in either case...throttle response may increase.

go the au tickford or the xr6t ba one, and add a k&n panel filter too
they sell on ebay starting from $.99 up to $60, depending on how much of a newbie you are with bidding.
ozbmx has a for sale thread going now, he has a good used au tickford snorkel, pm him.

Ford replaced the original Tickford one with the BA Turbo one about 7 years ago. Don't get roped into buying one of the Tickford ones on Ebay as they are overpriced and have the same CC as the new Turbo one sans the Tickford wings.

The Turbo one can be had from just about ANY Ford dealer Part Number BA 9A624 A for $44.60

Changing the whole Air Cleaner is fraught with danger as you would have to modify the inner guard panel to take a BA one. Take a look at this thread, it will give you an idea of what else you can do for better air flow. fordmods-technical-documents-diy-f38/convert-au-to-low-restriction-ba-induction-tube-part-1-t100117.html

Yes and no, there the same snorkel, but it's the little things sometimes that matter, such as I was looking for the snorkel for a long time, when I wanted it, but now I don't have the car, but I'm hoping to get a decent dollar back for it, basically just a little piece of engine bay bling, no different to painting rocker covers or going, stainless or alloy overflow bottles. no benefits but looks.
just my point of view, for those little touches to finish things off you sometimes pay a decent dollar.
