hi all. just wondering how the au 6 would cope with a turbo. and how hard it is to get decent power out of them, would you be able to bet the same sort of power as a ba turbo or would it be to highly strung.
cheers Graeme

bearing in mind your motor is healthy, you'll push 200rwkw with a breeze. ranging from 6-8 psi. some ba turbo's punch out up to 220rwkw ive seen on a dyno each car is different, seen a ba turbo pull 182rwkw at the same joint same day so you cant really go by that figure. It pretty easy to get good power from it, especially if you rebuild it and decomp to run more boost, PENDING HOW SERIOUS YOU WANT IT TO GO????

15 psi on a stock bottom end, best of luck with that, maybe you shouldnt get your ambitions mixed up with your engines capabilitys. looking into my crystal ball I see bent rods and smashed pistons in your future.

And to grizly if you havent bought the motor yet look for an lpg bottom end and put it with a petrol top end the lpg bottoms are much stronger

iv been told the bottom ends are good for around 300kw and 15psi would be quite a bit over that id say.

in theory, how would a stock auto AU monty ghia hold up with a 9psi supercharger on it?

fantastically as long as it is well maintained.

9-10 psi is the upper safe operating limit on the engine. you can go a couple higher but misuse and hard k's will push it over the limit.

9 is a good mark to aim for for power and reliability.

auto's are stronger than the manuals to funnily enough.

thanks for the advice guys. ill stick with 9psi and a dyno just to make sure it works sweet... want bit more performance but i dont really want to change the car too drastically. got my zorst comin in 2 weeks. after that its wheels the supercharger!

a factory bottom end wont hold 15 pound, if you take it to any decent tuner im sure they will tell you this.

no no.. don't listen to them.. Your motor was made to have 15 pounds shoved into it. It will take 15 pound. Once.

it'll take 15 psi, tuners will tell you it wont because they dont want it to be on them if it blows, they'll cover their a** and not tune it at 15.im confident it will last at 15psi and so are a few guys i know have been doing turbo stuff to falcons for years
