Hi all,
Is this ebay item truly LARGER than the original FORD item on my AU III i6. It says it is an original FORD item...now if this is so i did not know their was an option when you ordered your vehical when new, to option for a larger snorkel.!!

Can any one shed some light on this for me. here is the link.
Thanks

I think these are BA Snorkels which will fit on the cars as mentioned on the Ebay link.

Yes it is larger than the stock AU items, ny quite a bit actually but the difference when changing it over is very minimal. I fitted one to my EF, not because of the slight gain i may get, but purely cause it looks much better than a s**t small snorkel

AFAIK, it only came out on some of the AU XR's and the T-series AU's but they were tickford snorkels which is basically what that one in the auction is without the tickford wings. Dont know about it being an option from new though, but ive only ever seen them come out factory in the above mentioned models, have not seen them come out in Fairmonts, Ghia's etc from factory. That one in that auction would be a BA XR6T snorkel i believe, they are the direct replacements for the AU ones now so ive been told as you cant get the tickford snorkel no more.

EDIT: Asizzy got in first lol but he is correct

There was an original Tickford item with the wings on it and it has now been replaced by the BA Turbo XR6 one part number BA 9A624A and costs $43.80 new from Ford.

As Smurfy said - theyre a BA XR6T item, same as the old Ticky ones.
I paid about $35 bux for one from Ford, but it was a while back now. Like, nearly 2 years?

I don't know why people aren't raving about the EF/EL V8 intake tube, no trimming or drilling holes required and are twice as big as the six cylinder item :|

So.....pardon my ignorance, but do you mean the larger intake tube will fit the my AU III i6 no probs???

If so i might look into that!

Would appear so, the base of the air cleaner is the same. What I don't see as better is the fact that the inlet hole of the air cleaner base is the same diameter so, where is the advantage?

Oh! Whoops i misread that, sorry  , i didn't read that it was for your AU. The EF/EL V8 intake would be the better option IMO for the e-series Falcons.

I like what fast xr has done to his intake runner, (and most likel;y others on the forum) consistant diameter pipe right through to the air box where i assume he has enlaged the whole and fitted a better filter.

I would like to give this go!

So at the risk of repeating myself, if anyone has a AU iii i6 air box they dont want please let me know.

cya fellas

I'm confused.
Get the BA item, install it on your std air box, then run some 3" piping from your throttle body to the box, with a fat pod on the end of it (just because the box is hard to seal with new pipe and a panel filter in my experience).
There will be a noticeable difference.

Another thing, which I missed, is the addition of a BA airbox. I know they fit in E series bays with a lil massaging.
Theyre meant to flow better, but I'd only get one coz they look a lot better lol.
