Just wondering what people use to remove the seal/bush behind the idler pulley near the power steering pump on an Au VCT?? Got a leak and I want to fix it asap.
Cheers

Hope this bumps the question/topic up the list. I have the same issue right now and am hoping someone can shed some light on the replacement procedure.
Cheers guys

Are you sure it the idler bush as there is no oil in the bush, more likely the timing chain tensioner seal is leaking

Just to clarify. It's actually not the bush but the mount the idler sits on. I think there might be some kind of seal in this mount. The mount itself presses into the timing chain cover. I've tried cleaning the bolt and resealing it as advised on this or another forum. Fixed the problem for a while then started leaking again.

Cheers

the idler mounts to the powersteering pump bracket which is bolted through the timing case..

Okay,
I had another go at fixing the leak. Removed bolt and pulley. Cleaned bolt and hole. Added three O rings to plain section of bolt. Applied some Black Maxx sealant and reinstalled. Hopefully this will fix oil leak. Now I've just got to get the power steering rack fixed, which I found leaking.

Some photos included. Camera phone.

Cheers

pretty sure when I replaced my gaskets in my VCT motor where that bolt goes the gasket should seal that bolt you shouldnt need O-Rings and sealant but keen to see if that fixes it maybe try a copper washer too to help seal it

G'day
I have finally fixed this. All i needed to do was to seal the thread on the bolt.
It's amzing how such a little leak can cause such a friggin mess. Don't bother with the attempt in the pictures above it does SFA. Ah the joys of owning cars
