Hi there everyone. Got a problem with the Mrs's AU 2 Xr6. For no reason the smartlock will unlock the car. There is an aftermarket alarm fitted and when the car locks you get 3 beeps from the alarm and unlock you get one beep. I was laying awake the other morning and heard one beep and sure enough - the car was unlocked. This has happened the last 4-5 mornings ( got up and car is unlocked) I was wondering if anyone else has had a simular problem or anyone know what could be causeing it???
Thanks ppl
Cheers
Dazza

Thanks mate. I dont want to sound like a dumb-a*** but whats the difference between smartlock and smartshield?
Might have to head off to an auto sparky for a fix

as far as I understand its the coding system they have in the keys. AUI has the same sort of key as E series cars and the the installed rolling code tech in the keys for AUII and on. maybe try taking it to ford and get them to put the computer on it it may throw a fault code and narrow it down for you..

smartsheild basically as EBxr82nv said has a transponder in the key which sends a code to the ecu etc

while the smartlock cars do not have this

much more secure
ie if u had the smartlock key cut to a smartsheild car it would unlock the doors and turn the ign barrel but NOT start the car
