I told him this but he is a young ford freak with money and he has gotten a thing for au vct motors all of a sudden.he told me he gets vt -vu ss utes tailgating him all the time trying to race him(vt-vu ss utes are everywhere over in wa)I wanted to let him know what he is in for and needed advice from the fordmods gurus!

Best bet would be to put the engine in with an aftermarket ECU. Thats probably the easiest way to get the engine in while keeping the VCT working and will come in handy if the turbo goes on.

Id say the VCT is going to be more trouble than its worth though. Its going to limit the choice of cams (unless he keeps the stock) and there really isnt much of a performance advantage.

Well I may be wrong, but the VCT motor with it's higher compression, and the VCT tiself is gonna be a b**ch to get it right.
I would think the VCT motor would be worth a few dollars, so I'd have to say sell the VCT, buy a stock AU motor and use that as teh basis to turbo it with like a decent setup from snort performance, plus a decent ecu.
That's just my opinion though, you need to speak to some forced induction guys that know what they are really on about.

ah i say why not if ure gonna turbo charge there are aftermarket computers that control VCT so hes going to need one anyway considering he doing turbo, doing a turbo mod isnt going to be cheap anyway

he could keep the stock AU ecu,a series one (smartlock) AU ECU would work with the existing smartlock system, some loom changes would be needed, otherwise it should go in OK (once sump clearance was sorted)

The AU has a particularly s**t VCT setup which is massively improved in the BA and then again in the BF
