Hey guys,

I have recently replaced my stock EL Futura snorkel for an AU XR8 Tickford snorkel.

However, I have a problem.

Firstly i had much trouble trying to actually fit the snorkel into the airbox,

this was because the radiator was coming in the way.

I finally managed to get it in. However I am not able to screw it in.

This is caused by the fact that the radiator is pushing against the snorkel.

Wih alot of force i managed to screw it in the original screw holes.

Now my Question is
Has anyone done this modification and had a similar problem?

And if it is pushing against the radiator, is it a problem?

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Peter

gday, you are not surpose to use the original screw holes with the AU XR8 Snorkle.

You sit the snorkle a little bit back and make new wholes on the little drop bit before the original screw wholes.

Have a look in my gallary you will see one of the pics with the XR6T snorkle that i use to have, how it sits back.

When I put the BA XR snorkel in the car, I had to drill 2 new holes on the radiator support as well as snapping off some thermo fan support brackets to fit it neatly...it sits nicely now and the loss of support brackets for the thermo fan motor has caused no dramas.

phong =P~

how you doin mate

yeah thats fine, but even if I make two new holes, the snorkel still pushes against the radiator for some reason, and really dont want to be snapping anything off if it is not a problem that the snorkel pushes againt the radiator

BTW nice sleeper.
just out of curiosity, how much was the mandrel bent intake pipe?

Thanks Mate

i put the au tickford snorkel on my el and had the same problem. i took it off again and heated up the area that touched with a hot air gun, gently recessed it with a deep socket (large curved area) where it hit the shroud. fits perfectly now.
