the te50 is not another name for the xr8 snorkel. It's (funnily enough) the name for the snorkel fitted to the te50, and is different to the normal au xr8 one. I've got a te50 snorkel on my ef, i might have a look at it tommorow and see if it is restricted.

yeah but it's the same size and shape as the AU XR8 snorkel. The only difference between the two is it doesn't have the tickford wings symbol? i think

cheers.

Would i be better to cut my loses (i have somneone with an AUIII who wants my snorkel) and get an EL GT one? Does it definately fit straight onto a 6. I will take a photo of my setup tommorrow, so someone can look and see if i have mutant thermos (sorry, meant to say it hits the thermo fans as well) or a mutant head :-D

pop down to your local ford d/ship and take a look! ask them to pull out for you both the EL GT & AUIII XR intakes, and compare which is bigger! :P

I fitted one to my EF wagon, and it wasn't straiaght forward to do it properly. I had to remove some of the plastic on the radiator fan webs (stanley knife and file...Carefully), and trim and redrill the intake mouth. Its definitely not restricted, and the rubber seals. Running on gas you'd be hard pressed to pick the difference with a standard petrol setup.

If the bonnet rubber is such a huge issue you could always cut it off in the section where the air snorkle goes.

well i showed a ford mechanic today the new snorkel and he said it looked awesome and so much like a factory install. He said if you have a car dealership warranty than go the el gt snorkel but if you want too drill holes in your perfectly good radiator support panel then go right ahead but for $15 difference i know what i would do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Think about it guys, before you get the cordless drill out. Everytime you pop your bonnet you will see the original screw holes and than a new snorkel fitted about an inch back. Will give you the s**t i reckon and it has been proven that the el gt snorkel flows better anyway. from the autospeed site. !!!!!!!!!

Cheers Luke.

Well I did not have any problems what so ever fitting mine my AU3 XR8 Snorkel all though I did re-align it to fit more forward. I even checked again the other day in regards to the recent issue that someone pointed out of the Rubber strip blocking the Hole and I found after putting my hand in their and closing the bonnet down that I could feel with my fingers that it wasn't getting blocked at all. :D

Did you line it up with the original holes or drill new ones?

Yeah New ones. The Rubber Strip is aligned to the top of the Intake Lip.

EL Fairmont you nailed it mate. why the f**k would you bother with the boxy looking au snorkle that you have to modify when the el gt goes straight in. Ive got the el gt one and it looks a treat (shame that it does f**k all) and if your really that economy concious between the snorkles then dont get one at all cause you are only wasting your money if its not for looks or your running a monster of a motor. A stage 2 cam and extractors wont feel the difference

I have had the TE50 air intake on my car for about 3 years and had no problems either fitting it or any problems with the rubber under the bonnet.

I did put it in the same place as the original an had to put in 1 self tapper and after a year I did open the mouth of it wider. I still can not understand your problem and as for Morks comments I am sure that he could sell me one that will work for $300 but I like what I have got and the cost.

My mate also fitted the same as mine to his BA XR6 and he has had no problems with it in fact he was third in the Sydney Dyno day.
