It needs a dual filament brake light bulb, not the single that is currently fitted.

used to see this all the time on Commodores.

Make sure that the Ground for the rear lights is connected to the body (usually a bolt/nut there somewhere.... if it isnt, the indicator circuit grounds "through" the Park light circuit... hence the lights on. Or in this case the other way around.

Look for the (black) wire from the bulb. On the old commo's the nut used to either be loose, or just painted... so no ground

I had the same problem in my AU it will be your brake lights, one of them would have blown or the filament in the globe would be touching, so you will need to get a new one.
Thanks StrawbZ

ok so i am not sure on how to remove the taillights. i have removed the 2 screws are there any more? or do i also have to remove the carpet in the boot. (wow i have really explained it well not hope yuou understand what i am trying to say) and does it come out like the ef/el tailights come out or is it different. and no i do know enough to be dangerous.

no, you have indone the two screws on one of them, then you just have to pull back. even get a flathead behind it to help it out.

Cheers.

Excellent.

Ya should try changing the high beams on a xr6. Most stupid f**k design i have come across.

how is it for xr's? isnt it a screw on cover or do you have to reach in front (with f****n difficulty) of the thermos fans and pull out? Cause thats why i like the normal ef/el normal lights, i will only go xr lights if i get them for free in heritage green
