Got a tickford snorkel the other day from ford for $28.50 and fitted it. It is larger in size than the old EL GT snorkel i was using. I have noticed more induction noise and a bit better throttle response. Trip computer shows 1l better results on the highway after a 2week test.............

Cheers AU XR8 snorkel;;;;;;

the fact the EL gt snorkel is suited for EF&EL 6cyl falcons because of bonnet rubber size.. I was Wrong... Got one the other day from ford for $28.50 and fitted it. It is larger in size than the EL GT snorkel, with a better air flow and does not get blocked by the bonnet rubber after following the fordmods document.

Doesnt make sense. Are you supposed to of said AU XR8 snorkel somewhere in there instead of EL GT?

It does read it again! He was merely stating that the EL GT snorkel was what he was using previously before and now he has fitted and is using the AUIII XR8 Snorkel which he found to be bigger.

The AUIII Ticky snorkle is bigger and better flowing! See i knew it all along, all you had to do was follow the instructions Fordmods provided and you wouldnt have any problems with installing the snorkle :D Search it if ya dont believe me :D

Best $30 to spend on the car.

Not always!! Let me explain, and I would love some comments.

I have an EL i6 Fairmont on LPG. The AMOS mixer ring has a 43mm diam hole. The car also has a Lukey 2.5" Cat Back.

A couple of years ago I did the AU XR8 Tickford snorkel thing and became increasingly disheartened with the car's performance. It was really sluggish off idle to about 3000RPM unless I gave it stick, and even then I was not happy with it's performance. It also droned really badly all the time. Even when I put a second resonator in zorst, it still droned. This was after numerous ECU resets.

So just as an experiment I put the standard snorkel back in place, reset the ECU, and immediately gained a heap of throttle response and reduced the drone by at least half - it still drones more than I would like it to.

I'd be interested in people's opinions. I'm sorry if this goes against conventional wisdom but it's my experience.

au3 xr8 snorkel is the one u want...but it is tickford as if has the little wings on it.
has anyone painted the tickford sign on it? i think i want to as it would look alot nicer, just 2 break up the black n all.
i havent noticed 2 much difference in performance or throttle response but thats probably cos it looks like my coil pak or something could be stuffed, but i have noticed that the fuel economy is alot better...down to $60 per week from $70-$75 for the same amount of driving.
