Does anyone no where you can get these from for an ef and how much they are.. And if they are any better value than the ss inductions bigmouth kit :?.. Or is there other options that are a bit on the cheaper side of things. I priced a BA XR6 turbo intake snorkel from ford and i was quoted $130. Seemed a bit pricey.. Any help much appreciated :D

imo ss induction is a waste of time so is the aunger, just make up a 3 inch intake from the throttle body to either a pod filter or run the pipe in to the air box it self, and put a tick ford snorkle or a ba turbo snorkle on,

BA Turbo snorkel will be around 40bux, he probably quoted you part of the intake piping to the throttlebody.

i had the turbo snorkle on my ef, didn't notice much difference in response or noise, i now got the aunger one (only cause i got it free) and theres a slight induction noise now, and nice throttle response on cold nights..mind u this is with a stock intake pipe but im running a bigger TB..really need to sort out a nice big intake pipe to benefit both mods

Mate if you think $130 is a bit pricey, you perhaps should be sitting down when told how much you'll pay for SS inductions or Aunger bigmouth.

To get best results with the SS inductions you a need bigger throttle body, 3" piping and a good exhaust system. Retail the SS inductions is $315, alot of people think it just a big pipe but there is a 2nd piece to the kit and you have to cut a massive whole in your box to fit it up properly. They are heaps bigger than the XR snorkle but i dont think you will see any difference on a stock engine with the SS inductions or the Aunger kit.

The pics are of the whole cut and the extra piece you get with it.

One of the guys at my work fitted an SS Induction into an AU1 falcon. It was over priced and looked like cheap s**t. I t was made of thin plastic. Looked like it would crumble in your hands.

I'm aware of the price of the ss inductions. i was more refering to the fact that $130 seemed to be expensive for just an xr6 turbo snorkel and if its really worth the money for the ss inductions set up.. Turns out the turbo snorkel is only bout $40 or $50 cheers krisisdog.. And GeZza200 i'm aware it's a waste of time only fitting the bigmouth indution on it's own. I'll also be fitting a 3" stainless mandrel bent intake pipe into the airbox with pod and second intake from front bar into bottom of airbox as well as bigger TB (when i find one) and i've already purchased hurricane extractors and high flow cat just need 2.5" cat back exhaust hopefully getting this next week.. And Cam i'll drop into a store tommorow and see if they can give me a price..

Thanks everyone for your input i'll keep you updated :D

Did you try and crumble it? might look weak but they are quite strong and serve the purpose well.
the one in my car has been fitted for about 6 years or so. was fitted to my previous car aswell.

i think that mick web svo workshop used to sell the tickford snorkls for $30 or $35 last time I passed thru which is cheaper than a $200 aunger or ss cai.

man just make one. i'm in the middle of doin it. i'm assuming it's for your EA right? is it multipoint or centre point.

if multipoint and being a 3.9L the lower half of the air box and the pipe from the airbox to throttle body should already big the large diametre ones. just modify the top half

A snorkel alone won't do much, but if you're going to get one, the BA V8 or Turbo snorkel is about $40.

On my EF, I've done the following:
Oversize throttle body $220 (ebay)
Gasket material to make idle speed controller gasket $16 (Auto One)
BA 6-cyl. inlet duct $25 (wreckers)
BA V8 snorkel $40 (FTG Auto Salvage via ebay) - I modified this to make the mouth bigger
Cold air induction pipe from front bumper to front of snorkel $40 (Auto One)
PVC pipe connecting inlet duct to airbox $3 (hardware shop)
K&N panel filter $80 (ebay) - waste of money really; paper filters are fine
modified my existing airbox with insulating material on "hot" side of box, inner snorkel removed and intake hole cut into front of box and covered with mesh - free DIY

Total outlay $404 not including random sundries I already had etc; all work performed by myself.
Narrowest point in the intake is 68mm at the throttle body.

And after all that, there is a VERY noticeable performance increase.

good stuff, you must be running a decent cam to get that power, what was the snorkel you did at the front of the car?
