my bro's old ba xr6 ute had a recall for that o ring.

how was the brake shudder fixed, cause i know 2 people with 2004 ba's with the problem, and ford don't seem to be able to fix it permanently.

My BA has been down at the drags probably 3 out of 4 weeks since last October or so. All I've done is oil changes every 3000k's cause it gets a fairly hard time and so far all that's happened is it's worn out it's rear tyres, and when I bought it the bonnet release had snapped. Seems quite reliable enough to me.

My xr6T is 2 years old only been in once for O`ring and steering colum retightening.Oherwise I absolutely love it, Handles ,drives ,all the power without the noise.

I've seen a couple of XR BA at a dealership with damaged front tires. notice that they crack around the outside tire wall & tread, right on the corner. they look like cheap retreads. is this a common problem with the front end of the BA? with the weight & all. apparently I inquired about it over the phone with Ford service. the guy did say its a common problem. not on all, but a few.

And I almost traded in my 5 years old reliable AU ute for a BA/BF. She took good care of me. I don't think I'll part with her now, not for a while any way.

sounds like to me you should join a holden forum, any car, any model can have problems doent mean that all that model have the same problems. (besides ea and magna's) my nefew had a ba ute he flogged the piss out of it allday everyday, doing stuff like holding it in gear till it hit the limeter, line lockers, doughnuts he was getting new tyres forthightly it never missed a beat not a problem, not a lot of cars will put up with such punishment.

The BA's are reliable the major problem was really brake shudder that gave people the most dramas!

is all that u aussie can go on about is sheep that was twenty years ago
i guess small brain small thoughts
dont get me wrong im a fordman through and through
but dont ya think its a bit of a problem when an engine doesnt even last 5000 k's
have any of yous ever seen an older falcon with these sort of probs when they were new

Never heard that kind of problems on the older falcons before. hope the new BF have address those problems.

don't worry about the sheep joke....theres more sheep in AUS then any where. its the she-he-he-ep capitol of the world.

I've heeard of a few XR8's and GTP's getting new motors during the run in period. I don't know how these people drive the cars but I'm assuming that a P plater would not be able to flog a car this hard.

How many fords have had warranty engines?
How many holdens (especially the Gen 3's) have had warranty engines? Bear in mind that the Gen 3 is an old engine. GM have had over 10 years to fix the piston slap issues. That is unexcusable. Lets hope that the steel bore liners in the Gen 4 actually stop the slapping issues for GM.

all they have to do is put long skirt pistons in the things! problem gone

We'll see how they go on that one. All the writeups of the gen 4 only mention that the block is sleeved and has DOD (Displacement on demand technology, just like the new hemi) But it won't be activatyed untill the VE. Nothing about the pistons.
