Hi All, I have a BA XR6 and have been looking for some subtle options to gain some power out of the 4LI6. I have installed a Green Filter and done some small induction work, but I have been considering installing a factory BA turbo exhaust (cat and all) to my car (keeping a stock look - work vehicle). Has anyone done this and are there power gains? Also, does anyone know if backpressure would be an issue? The turbo exhaust consists of a 3" initial pipe (would need to have a mod here to suit current manifold (2.25" I think), cat which splits into 2, then twin 2" system through to rear tip. Any thoughts??[/b]

Cheers JB

JB,

IMO just go a sport exhaust, you'll pay the same as you do a second hand turbo one and least you know its suited and wil lhave the power output you want, then from there you can get extractors too and least you'll get some gains from that.

Yeah same yourself the hassle and just get a nice system setup to suit your car.....you'dbe paying for the ford one enough as is then to pay extra to have things modded so they all meet up nice and neat...not worth it....and as fuzion set with some extractors it will sound great and probably workout to be round the same price so.. much better value for money there

Im no expert but i stumbled across this at pacemaker. They seem to say that even stock performance vehicles skimp out on costs. Check out this link:

Hi, I was able to get hold of a full 2nd hand system for $50 bucks in excellent nic (mates rates!). Installation quoted at approx $100. I am curious about a twin 2" system on a 4L 6...good or bad? Any experience?

Twin 2" system is a bit on the big side for a atmo 6. One user on here ( i think fat51x) has a twin system exhaust on his xt. Stick with a single 2.5".
BTW what induction mods have u done?

Cheers

Induction mods - not much. Green filter, turbo snorkle, air deflector fin from front grill, extra cutout in front of airbox (plus rectangular tube) to draw in air from under headlight. All looks pretty stock.

Any downside to over-exhausting your motor...apart from loss of power/torque? Any damage?

Anyone else with a twin system on a 4LI6?

afaik, if u put a bigger cat in the standard XR6T exhaust it is good for 300rwkw before it becomes a restriction...

I had a look the other day under an XR6 AUII VCT and saw what looked like a twin system (possibly 2x2") under the diff. Anyone verify?

yes it splits as it goes under the diff and 1 pipe is blocked off
