Hey all,

The accessory drive belt on my engine keeps getting chewed out, there is black powder everywhere! All i can assume is that a pulley is out of alignment, but the only pulley that i have installed myself is on the power steering pump.

I can't even remember how i came up with the measurements on how far to press the pulley onto the pump. Can someone tell us the correct procedure on how to install the pulley or give us some suggestions as to why the drive belt is being chewed out?

if i remember correctly the power steering pump pulley actually pushes on until it reaches the stop in the pulley. I have seen a few with harmonic balancers which are slightly warped which chew out belts too.
