how much clearance is required to clear an eb2 k-frame?

Its expendable so will a slegdgehammer suffice?

Weld some box to the front of the crossmember then cut the original away.

yeah thought about that but i dont have a welder and dgaf about it just want it to bolt in :(

the only way i could get it welded would be to drive the car somewhere, and i guess it cant be done with the engine in? :p

I don't reckon you'll get enough clearance with a sledgey glenn.
Can't you borrow some kunts arc or something?

:( I dont know any knts with an arc welder, only migs. maybe i'll just cut it and bolt a piece of steel in the middle or something.?

I dont want to take the k-frame out or transport it by trailer. I'd rather put the motor in and drive it somewhere without the crossmember in then get it welded in after :P

can i suggest cut through the centre of the square tube at the front of the k frame bend each side of the tube with a sledg or a jack.
one you got the engine in and running just drive it to where ever you can get a welder and weld it back up??

that tube is only a support bar its not really structual...

something like what i have done to put the au engine into the ea..

here is a pic

did you grind the ribs off? i dont really want to damage the sump (not that grinding fins off is damage)...

But thats probably what i'd do, even if i have to grind the ribs off.

Thanks mate

who knows.. i'm sure the car would survive low speed country roads to get somewhere to get it welded without the member all together...

but i'd probably be dominating the road with a ba motor and a t5 :O

actually.... bolting it in might be an idea glenn.
Cut the middle section out so you've got clearance.
get some square steel and drill both, few bolts through and done.
drive and get it welded up.
