I've got a BA XR6 N/A which I have been noticing over the past couple of months has been using a little bit of oil. (not much but noticably different on the dipstick -it has gone down by about 1/5 of the way from the Full mark to the Add Mark) It doesnt have any external signs of leaks, nor around any of the seals. Is this normal usage or should I investigate further? Its only done ~<54000km

BTW car is stock with only K&N filter and Typhoon CAI.

Neither of my BA's use any oil whatsoever. I'd be looking into it.

Yes. It hasnt gone down by much but it is still noticably different to when the oil was changed. Ill look at the car from underneath and see if theres any signs of leakage. It isnt blowing smoke or running rough or anything so I dont know whats going on.

try changing the pcv valve. I've seen a few BA's use small amounts of oil through the pcv

I did the PCV valve "rattle" test and it sounds fine, and the valve itself looks in good condition, would it still be a good idea to change it nethertheless? I checked the car from underneath and I cannot see any leaks, the car doesnt blow any smoke and I dont thrash it either so I'm a bit baffled as to what can be causing it. :?

theyre only worth about $8 genuine from ford and the design of the valve got changed about 12 months ago to stop small oil usage concerns so yeah its worth a try.

also whats t he history of the car?

Im the second owner - Car has been serviced every 10000kms rather than 15000km as per book. Always serviced at the ford dealer (log book shows)

Hahahaha no - it was some guy in Brisbane - I bought it from Torque Ford in Brissy which is where this guy got it and had it serviced subsequently. I have never seen a Manual Falcon as a rental car anyway.
