OK so can someone tell me if this shudder when parking or turning slowly is the pump or what?
If so are there better quality power steer pumps on market?

if theres air in the system they will shudder, if u have put wider tyres on a car which came from the factory it may shudder (different rack - this applies only to BA's),
also there is an updated hose applicable to some vehicles which can solve this issue.

Have put BA XR6 mags & tyres on stock BA-XT,
However brother has stock BA with standard wheels & his does it as well?
Do XR's have a different rack to XT's?????????
Do you know if a higher volume power steer hose might help?
(if they are available)

the fairmont does that too. sometimes i have to left foot break and give it a bit of accelerator to stop it.

ok there a a couple of reason as i have been through this and just got it fixed.

1. air in the lines

2. wrong type of power steering fluid put in (i have done this the are two types for newer ford but only one is good will post it up when i find the bottle)

3. stuffed power steering pump. mine got to the point where it wouldn't turn at all unless moving. I paid $135 exchange for mine. Be warned however many places charge a lot more so hunt around.

Sounds good to me, Might flush system & see if it helps.
(Please post fluid type you used)

I'm a bit p****d at these BA's though :!:
So far replaced, hood cable-front struts-4wheel disc machine & pads 14months ago now brakes are shuddering bad after 9000kms in the country.
Also getting camber kit fitted to keep the thing on the road.
Car has 66,445kms!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope the new FG is better :?:

:x :x :x

Typical BA ford brakes, there is a couple of things that you can do.
Fit DBA front slotted rotors and Bendix Ultimate pads and tension your front wheels with a tourque wrench NOT A RATTLE GUN.
A lot of heavy long down hill braking tends to stuff the ford rotors quickly.
We would replace a couple of BA front brake sets a week with this problem.

i use the power steering shudder as a method to teach the g/f not to sit of the spot turning the steering wheel!

sorry for the delay the power steering fluid used is penrite PAS.

Been in the car for half a year now no probs. Just remember your pump may be stuffed, so flushing the system may not work.
