hey im looking at putting 1 or 2 gauges in my XR6 N/A, ive narrowed it down to this preference in order of first being most preferred and last being only party preferred.
-air fuel mixture
-engine bay temp (air temp on passenger side of engine)
-vacuum
-battery volts

i find it pretty obvious how to install and wire up the battery volt gauge, but how would i wire up the others, especially the air fuel mixture gauge.
any info is appreciated, thanks

Oil pressure and temp.
Vacuum
(there's three good ones for a n/a engine)

air/fuel unless it's a wideband sensor is completely useless as the ECU is constantly swapping between rich and lean and fine adjustments, a regular air fuel meter will be flashing all over the place (they're nicknamed disco gauges).

ill take it then that the ba doesn't have a wide band oxygen sensor, ok im gonna go with oil temp and vacuum then how do i wire/connect these up so they work properly. might sound like a silly question, but is the any point of a vacuum gauge other then the fun of it,

The vac guage will bounce around while you're driving - it's entertaining. Also can help you drive more economically if you want to. Wiring will be power + lighting, plus run a hose to the intake manifold to get vacuum.

Oil gauge will be power, lighting, plus a pair to a pressure sender.

(note don't get mechanical gauges, it's illegal to have oil running into the cabin for gauges - get electric ones)

Vac gauges also give you an idea of how well your motor is running.

Have a look at that site and play around with the gauge down the bottom. I've found mine pretty useful.

i have put an oil pressure gauge into my BA XR6T, you can buy a VDO part from ford/ autobarn which screws into where your oil pressure switch is. I cant remember the part no but i know its something simple like 230.032 its only six numbers. All you do is unscrew you oil pressure switch, screw in the T-Piece Adaptor, add your sender and oil pressure switch, connect your wiring and your done.

Yea as you need the oil pressure switch and the sender both mounted for your car to work. The ford part will allow you to do this

hmm the bloody guy at auto barn told me i wouldent need anything else to get it to work :( ,
ive got a oil pressure gauge on order at the moment from auto barn, its a drift brand name, and from what ive used before from drift they make good products, so when i go down to ford just say,T-Piece oil pressure adapter thing lol and the should know what im talking about, if not straight away im sure they will find it out for me, ive been their that many times im on a first name basis with the guys :D

ive come across another forum with a similar topic for a AU, and the part number you said was mentioned and mate spot on memory!!!, um do you know what the thread size is for the oil switch (factory)

ok i had a look under the hood, found a really good vacuum line i should be able to tap into (comes off the manifold underneath the Throttle body), and i also found where the oil pressure switch is, and HOLY s**t how the hell do you get in their, at the monument im thinking putting the front on stands and reaching up past the oil filter, does anyone know a simpler way???
