gday fellas

i recently bought an xr6 turbo ute and it was running perfect, anyways since then has started to have a rough idle just only dropping and jumping back up about 50 rpms, and started boost spiking to around 15psi,
i replaced the coil packs and plugs as it seemed the logical thing to do but still have this issue?

also when car is cold it makes a lot better power and more consistently than when it is hot?

some times when hot if i leave it for say 5 - 10 mins and then come back and start it up when i am driving it will be making the boost but not making the power??

any ideas on how to fix these problems as i dont have the cash to take it to ford ??

much appreciated - Tom

Hi Tom,

i had a similar problem on mine too except i had no boost spiking...

i had no idea what it was either but after what i found out was that there are a few fixes too this,
as you have replaced the coils & plugs id say you may need a TPS or throttle body, as i changed my coils and plugs first too, to find the problem still existed.. so then i replaced my entire throttle body with the TPS aswell, the problem was gone.. i then sprayed some WD40 in the boost solenoid after that it idle smooth as & the boost came on harder & stays like that hot & cold.

hope this may of helped.

oh & you prob need a new actuator for your turbo to stop the spike
