they are big heavy cars so the numbers look impressive but they don't go that well. look at smiley's sig. he claims 170+rwkw and yet his 1/4 mile time is still in the 15's and less than 1/2 sec up on stock. no doubt there is an explanation but you get the idea. 170 - 180 rwkw in a ba is equivelent to about 140 -150 in e series.

fnp's non turb ba is in the 14's.

exhaust (full - extractors, hi flow cat etc) around $1000. minor intake work like a bfxr6t 2ndary snorkle or similar - around $100. flasher and tune - around $1200. very rough figures but for around 2k you would be in the mid 14's.

The autos have about 10rwkw less than manuals, XR6s have a slightly different diff ratio. Thats the only reason XR6s may be slighty faster than a stock XT.

lsd, traction control, bigger tires, better suspension, better aero dynamics also help make it quicker

traction control = slower
bigger tyres = slower
stiffer suspension = slower
better aero dynamics = bodykit adds weight, slower

I have timed my car at 6 seconds to 100(no drags here) on stockies, little bit slower on the XR6 wheels/tyres. If you want fun with these cars, leave the stockies on and get a 4.11 LSD and a custom tune. 3rd gear easily reaches 200km/h...

All i can say is if you are looking to do up a car for power, then get the extra bit added to the loan and get a T, thats what i did and never turrned back, ive spent $1495 on it and got a reliable 255.5rwkw and very low 13s passes, only a $400 tune away from 12s.

Agreed! If you have the money get a 3V or turbo. A BA 6 will never beat a modified/tuned XR6T, most other things but.....

XR8 costs a bit more, and is a bit slower. Spend the same money on each, the XR6T will blitz everything. If I was going the V8 way, I would get a 3V XT or Fairmont, they have more low down power and torque than an XR8.

oh ok

cause I have been looking on carsales.com.au and that and the xr8's are actually going for cheaper in most cases. Seen a few for around 18k, but cheapest xr6t i have seen was around 24
