There is no way the BA will keep up the XR8.

The 185KW AU has peak torque of 412NM, the 182KW BA is only 380NM. I don't think they have the same diff ratio but I may be wrong.

The BA will bog down off the line because of the soft suspension. The BA is also very floaty around corners so you'd need to at least change the shockers.

If you're going to keep the car for a while get the BA as they're nicer in normal driving. Check out Jim Mock motorsport for a cheap upgrade that won't affect your insurance too much.

If you're only going to hang on to it for a few years, get the AU (preferably the 200 or 200) as the BA will depreciate heaps in the next few years compared to the AU.

Keh??? I think you mean he should get the AU2 200kw or the AU2/3 220 which goes without saying.

Yep. As long as it's a series 2 or 3. Approx. 1 second quicker 1/4 mile and would turn corners were the boat, sorry I meant to say BA XT would understeer and go straight ahead. If I was in your situation I would save up a few more dollars and get a series 3 5 speed with the Rebel bodykit 8-)

Yes, I meant 200 or 220.

You're write about the stock BA. Cornering is very floaty.[/quote]

To be honest, i dunno what the BA does with all it's 182kw.

My 5.0L EF used to kill em when it was stock with exhaust.... so i dare say the AU I XR8 wouldnt have too much trouble disposing of em, lat along the AU II or III.

Kw means nothing. Torque and weight means everything.

BAs are heavy, hell even my Fairlane is lighter than the lightest BA. But anything can be made to move..

I agree with that entirely, i had a play with some BA ute one night, bout 4 traffic lights, killed it each time and by 90 i was over 4 car lengths infront if not more EASY.
Thats without any trying what'so'ever, just plant the foot n bogging down from a dead stop lol.
Both auto, me in adaptive shift mode, him god knows.
At least he kept trying, i liked actually beating someone heaps over n over again, donesnt happen often, most people will wimper away.

Id go the AU unless insurance is a problem.

The XT is actually quicker then the non-turbo XR6. :P

I still say stick with buying the XT the money you save on running costs can be put towards perfomance upgrades. 8-)

Personally i would go with the AUIII XR8 but yeah i would love to own a AUIII XR8 220kw *drooling* I like the look of them too, prolly the only AU i like the look of.

Either Black, Red or dark blue would look nice as. And the sound of that Killer V8 would be awesome with a simple exhaust upgrade. :D

However not everyone is made of $$$ so if in fact the insurance etc is too high stick with a BA 6

Just deposited an Au xr8, black, manual, full exhaust and extractors, 121,000km. visually i could c new injectors and the idle is a lil lumpy so im guessing a new cam 2! $17,500

very impressed! havent driven a manual in a while and leaving the ford lot for the test drive she slid sideways a tad just starting off with a slow clutch let out.

very excited for the drive home when i pick her up!

thanks for all your comments

I'd go the BA. Beautiful ride. Great interior. Very comfortable.
Control Blade. Newer, cheaper insurance. :P
