another idle/miss/everything problem!! ef falcons....

has been doing this for a while now, seems to gradually be getting worse tho.

use to b after the engine had warmed up a bit, now it is just random...
in idle i get the odd jump, drop, search actions and this seems to carry on till i start to move again. then the car sort of stutters along, not 100% sure if its missing or wot, seems to surge then putt then find its feet again.
sometimes it seems to sort itself out and start to run fine. other times it just putts the whole way.

i have done the filters, cleand out the isc, the crank angle sensor, run injector cleaner through the tank, and done various searches on the issues, many people seem to have the same troubles but none 100% fixed...

any ideas would be greatly appreciated,

cheers!

it could well possibly be your leads, with mine im just doing a new thing everyweek or whenever I have the spare cash.. i'd be self diagnosing it to see if there are any sensors shagged. I done mine and had to replace the TPS and IAT. changed my fuel pump last week, next will be leads and plugs AGAIN.

have u checked your cat? this can cause a miss if it's blocked. try your fuel filter too. goodluck, definetly try the diagnosis though. There is a how-to guide in the technical forums

about a year ago my car developed an intermittant miss. some days it would be fine. sometimes it would go weeks without doing it and then other days it would rear its ugly head every time u got in it. i also did all the obvious things eg plugs, leads, coil pack, various sensors, etc. i figured it wasn't a fuel issue as my economy was very good and still is. eventually another member on here mentioned that his car had similar probs and after about 8 hours on dyno trying to trace the prob (very hard as its not always there) he found it to be the fuel pump relay which is located in front of coolant reservoir. i replaced mine. cost $70 - $80 from motor traders and prob disappeared. just another option to try if you have an annoying miss.

however... having said all that after about 6 months of trouble free motoring my car has started to miss again the last couple of weeks. have changed leads again yesterday. no change. plugs are iridiums with only about 15000 km's on them but thinking i might buy a cheap set and see if prob goes away. am going to do self diag today and see what turns up.

at least u know yr not alone when you have an ef with a miss.

Try resetting ecu. By the way, can anyone tell me how to do this myself.

haven't been able to find ecu reset procedure, but i know its here somewhere.

gonna change the leads tomorrow night hopefully, f**k they look hard to get to, down near the coil pack (i think thats what it is?).

overtime pending i might buy a relay and give that a go.

maybe i might give up and get out and about on the push bike more :D
