Everyones going to have an opinion here, so here it goes. What is the best coolant to use in an I6 4.0 engine. The FG is due for a change and wondering what to use. dont have much faith in the ford product judging on what my overflow bottle looks like so i am looking for other options.

I use nulon with royal purple ice.

I'll pose another question: How many people with alloy radiators use de mineralised water?

The repco brand concentrate does me just fine and 20 per cent cheaper than the Nulon(plus I get the 15 percent discount from NRMA roadside assist and now RACQ)although I found their thermostats to be a bit of a hit and miss(some opened at 100 deg, others opened at 109 deg!!). You have to be careful of who is actually making the stuff and really, do you know what is in it. All the brands have changed so much over the years and I am baffled at what to use in coolant/oils/filters nowadays...

Can the small 1 litre bottle be used in e eseries ? It's really concentrated . Only $16 . Used in vx commodores . Makes 20L.

My coolant only got changed recently and I only need a top up . But ill have to empty it all to get the ratio correct . Just curious as to why we can't use it . Was told its not recommended .

I run Nulon...can't remember which one but it has served me well. I never had issues running just De-ionised water though...did that for 3 years.

thanks phong, I changed my ute over using it and the radiator split the brazed joints shortly after. Shortly after that I read that it's bad for ally systems. Not stating facts just asking for experience.

I believe thats the same as Calibre (Super Cheap). If so, it is made by Nulon.

Nulon is definitely the go. Those "1L = 20L concentrates" are weak as piss.
Have a read of the bottles, Nulon 100% con = 1080g ethylene glycol per litre vs Cheap 1L = 300ish.
