Hey everyone,
first off, i've decided to swap plans from a n/a build, and move into forced induction. (hope this was the right place to post in, if not i appoligise)
Anyway,
I'm planning on building up a new engine to throw into a au xr6, that i've got a couple years to get 100%, though i'd like to get done asap and use in another car for strip and burnout comps, until im off full license.
What would be the best base engine to start with?
AU series 2/3 standard, xr6 (HP) or VCT engine?
I plan to run around 300-350 at the wheels.
Also, btr auto with hi stall and build to handle the power, of t5 built?
Any advice, links or any info to help would be greatly appreciated.

if your doing a full engine build and are staying with the sohc, just use the au xr6 hp engine..
the btr would need between $2000- $4000 spent on it to reliably take 350rwkw.
for anything around or over 250rwkw forget about the t5...

you could go with a tremic tko 5 or 600, or better still a t56 6 speed..

at the end of the day big money will need to be spent to support that power reliably..

allow $10,000-$15,000 minimum for a reliable strong set up...

now you could look at it in a different way, for $10-15,000 you can pick up a modified ba/bf turbo that can or already is making that kind of power much easier...

hmm, yeah true would be an expensive route to take,
though everyone has a ba/f turbo, a au turbo, now thats something not too many people have.
though maybe a ba/f turbo transplant into the au, is that would work out easier?

similar in costs, but the power can be made easier compared to a sohc engine...

Why on earth would you build a you beaut engine and put it in a burnout car and flog the tits off it?
Save youre money, blow up a few engines, learn to drive and do skids(you dont need 350kw to do burnouts)
When you're on you're opens buy a xr8 and supercharged it.

Because standard car burnouts are s**t. A built supercharged engine will smoke hard and probably last longer than an n/a stock motor revving its tities out. You wouldn't build a 400kw car to drive to church on Sundays with pension rego?

As Troy said, if your after considerable power go with a BA / BF XR6T. The SOHC are harder and therefore more expensive to get power out of. Then again a nice looking EL/AU XR will always look better :)

+1 kinda.

If your looking for a motor, the hydrid ELs are the way to go I think as the crank is a bit stronger?

Oil on a roundabout adds 200kw to a car. Smoke em up Johny!
