Ride: 94 EF Falcon

Location: Melbounre
VIC, Australia

About 2 months ago i picked up a 94 EF Gli from a dealer at Car City Ringwood in Victoria. Heard a few dodgy things from about them, but we had a good experience through one dealer there so i gave it a shot again.

Picked it up for $8,349 on dual fuel (i'm thinking u bloody ripper). Was running good for about 1 and abit months then one day it wouldnt start.

I am running an Impco gas system and from what i know they start up strait on gas (other systems like LPGAS start up on Petrol and then swithc to GAS as far as i know) so i was royally stuffed on startup

Anyway the dealear i bought it off, City Cars, promised a reconditioned gas system with a newish converter and mixer...took it down to a gas joint last monday.....turns out the converter had done 250,00km and it was as black as a dogs guts, and leads were stciking out of all sorts of places...I'm not sure who's fault it was and i dont care, but it set me back $1,104 to get the mixer, converter and all leads replaced. So not to happy. Also the Air cleaner cover had a crack in it, which meant it was sucking air (irregular idle). The gas job was stuffed.

Anyway just stick clear of that joint....people fitting gas like that should not be in business.

P.S. This is my first car, so if i say some stupid s**t and dont know much, my bad.

Low Km's....137,000....car runs great just s**t gas system, all fixed now. I'm not so sure i got ripped on the basis that the gas was stuffed, considering everything else i running a treat.

Paid 5 Grand for mine in 2003,
ED Classic at 175KM decent nic from Car City
nearly 3 years later it works
only needed head gasket at 205km

Road worthy inpection said mostly good.

You can do ok at car city but if you dont know EXACTLY what your looking for your bound to get a Lemon with a Capital L for an over inflated price.

My 2c thanks,

did you get a mechanical inspection done before you bought it?

and yeah thats a hell of a lot of coin for an EF gli.

Pet_ED was ur ED on Gas? And the only explanation i can make for an Au being less than an EF is because the EF is a better car!

Ohwell i'm over it...i'm happy with the car, and am postive that apart from the gas system being dodgy the EF is great, despite you all thinking i got ripped.

Anyway thaks for the input.

At the time of purchase it was not on gas,
got it converted to LPG 3 weeks ago.
Just got $2000 rebate

Good Luck with the 1st car :D

I was on my 5th car at 21 years old.

Yeh i am hoping to keep the EF for a couple of years atleast..i have always had a soft spot for them. Plus they look good and the 4 speed auto goes hard, even on LPG.

NIce $2000 rebate! Thats the way.

After the EF i would love an XF (always wanted one), but there is an XY GT up at my local shops for sale, so never know...

If anyone is interested in having a look and is in the Knox region of Victoria, the XY is situated at 'The Lakes' Shopping centre on Kellets road, Rowville,

Looks in good nick, white, original interior etc.

is that cause you can't drive and stack em all the time?

I am up in the 20's somewhere.. but that includes a few farm hacks and paddock bashers. road cars.... about 13. only 1 NAF stack.
