Hey there, I hope someone can help me! I have a 08 Fairmont Ghia and I had a accident and it busted up the radiator not real bad it took bout 20 mins to leak out, but when it did it beeped and the temp light came on and the engine warnning light as well, so I swicthed her off. Today I put more water in it and it has totally cooled down now ( sat for 24 hours) and when i quickly turned it on the engine warning light was still on, does anybody know why?

Daniel.

I take it your talking about the Malfunctions Lamp on the left of the cluster.

If so, I wouldnt worry too much.

It just means the car is not running within emissions limits. Might be because you ran out of water and the engine when into protection mode. This would mean your AFR's were a bit rooted and the computers picked on it.

I think once it goes back to normal after a few hours of driving, and the ECU recognises this, the light should disappear itself.

I had something similar with mine, and I've read of quite a few others in the same position. Just seems to go away once the ECU thinks the car is back within emissions scope.
