Hi,

Was down at Ford today having some work done on my BF Falcon and they were telling me that i should look at getting a Fuel System Clean since the car has done 79,000kms. They wanted to chagre $200 for this service, but i dont know exactly what it involves or if the guy was just giving a sales pitch.

Couldn't i just use the injector cleaner that you put in your fuel tank? He was claiming you get a carbon build up that ruins your injectors and will lead to needing new ones at $1500. He also claimed better economy and more power but i am a bit skeptical.

Any advice would be great as i am not mechanically minded.

I'd be thinking fuel injector cleaner but then again I'm not the best one to ask.

You would have much more fun with $200 worth of the higher octane fuels, and drive the car around using a lot of throttle to get fuel flowing through the injectors.

Way more fun.....

Probably a better result too. I heard a rumour once that when holden "cleaned your injectors" it was a bottle of techron into the tank, and a couple of laps around the block on full throttle.

Thats why I said injector cleaner in the fuel tank.

Unless you take it to a specialist where they literally take out the injector's and recondition them (clean them).

I had my injectors cleaned when my head was rebuilt. I had tried cleaner additives and different fuels.
The engine was transformed for quite a while.
As far as a sub 100,000klm car goes I think its a waste of money and a con job.
