oh sweet, well its an awesome mod. But you can't have it without putting in a high flow air filter much like you can't have a high flow filter without better snorkelage, as they go hand in hand.

Heres the pics. The last 1 shows the lower duct going behind the headlight.

got mine on monday night and installed it. :D went out and bought my K&N filter once i knew it had arrived and don't know if it's me but seems to have a little more go at about 60km/h in 1st. also more responsive so easier to spin the wheel when your already moving. can't wait to get an exhaust to go with it too.

Brett did the before and after on ivans dyno nick.
Was like 5kw from memory, do a search :P
Would be much more effective on the turbo but man, I remember an article in zoom where they lifted the airbox lid on a dyno run and got 10-15rwkw I think it was?

Is yours the turbo?

Does anyone know if the airbox is the same size as the one in the XR6T?

For example, will a K&N panel filter from an XR6T fit into the Typhoon air box?

I'm getting one from FTG for the old boy. Seems like the best bang for your buck mod going around for the six.

just had a look on the El and theres no room to put pipes going to the front really. i was thinking i might take the box out and drill some 80 mm holes on the guard side of the box. should work alright?

Quick and very affective mod (not to mention cheap) mod to my EL today. I noticed that cold air was getting to the guard side of the airbox and i couldn't actually run any pipes forward like the Typhoon intakes have. the lines from the compressor run right along side them and has air come through from behind the left headlight.

Image as you can see here, moisture can build up in there (this is 12 hours after the car was switched off) so i opened the drain hole at the bottem too.

the idea of it all is that there was a fair bit of suction from the intake mouth before making a vacum in the lower half of the box. this should allow the engine to breath a bit easier. haven't driven it yet but did a quick rev test and it was more responsive. im going to put a hi flow filter in there and a AU tickford snorkel too.

More about it here http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=32404

an intake straight from the front bar would be far greater than anything inside your engine bay. regardless of position the engine bay holds more heat than outside the car obviously. my custom air box cost me SFA.will post pic asap.
