Location: Auckland

Feasible?

I can get engine and loom. No ECU.

Will it bolt up to the 6cyl auto? If there an after market ECU that will run it? Can I flash the 6cyl ECU to run it?

What other costs am I likely to be up for?

I'm pretty sure trying to use the 6 cyl ECU in any form would just be an exercise in futility.

Gearbox-wise, I think the V8 auto is different, but we'll wait until someone with more knowledge weighs in.

Thanks mate, beginning to look unfeasible, even though I'm getting the Boss engine for a mad low deal.

if you are getting it for a good deal, why not just buy a xr8 auto or manual box and a ecu from a wreckers? then try and sell ur xr6 engine and auto box?

you'll need a trans to go with it.
6cyl is different

6cyl ECU won't run it, any 8CYL ECU can be flashed to run it though.
3V or 4V

aftermarket ECU would be an option.
