Long time reader, first time posting.

I'm sure this has been asked/discussed hundreds of times, however I havn't been able to find info regarding what dimensions to get for the filter. Have used the search feature as well has google.

I currently have a EL GLI Sapphire and I am going through the phase in my life were I want to do some tinkering and learning as a pet project when I get free time.

Anyway back to my question, I'm just wondering what size filter would fit in the stock airbox, I've read that a EF airbox lid would be required for an EL however I've also seen that it isn't, theres also talk about using a BA airbox lid with some 'heavy handled fitting'.

I know a 3" opening is required however there are many that fit the 3", just wanted to know what the dimensions for the filter need to be. Also an inverted pod is recommend as it has a higher surface area?

Also will be fitting an AU snorkel and a custom made intake from the airbox to the throttle body which will hopefully be the start of many more modifications.

Thanks in advance for all the replies!

Well, to help slightly, I've heard that the EL airbox lid is less restrictive and better to fit on the EF airbox, which will provide tiny, if any power gains.
Putting in all the custom intake and fitting an AUIII XR8 snorkel are good buck-for-buck mods and help heaps with restriction.
Im not too keen on the accuracy of the pod filter, as I have seen blokes that have cut the lids and what not of their stock air boxes to fit them in,
but I know it can be done with not MUCH trouble.

Hope this helps a bit,

Cheers,
Russ.

Thanks for the reply mate, still trying to work out what will fit. Guess after pay day I'll just head down and buy a cheap pod that LOOKS like it will fit  and go from there, might as well pick up the air intake as well.

Should keep my weekend busy.

ive got a k&n boxed pod, its a small-ish pod filter.
i used a pod adapter to mount it inside the box, and used a ef lid. also i brought longer bolts for it, i cut up some foam mat and used it as a gasket to seal the pod adapter to the box.

if u use a ef lid u cant use the el pipe, im running a BA pipe.

That's a cool set up,
how much did the BA intake set you back?

Ba intake was $50

The engine was clean when I brought it. To keep it clean i wipe it down using a damp chux. It gets all the dust/dirt off
