i have recently taken my ba xr6 N/A to pedders to get them to check over all bushes... It came back front lower inner control arm bushes were shot (what a shock...) and also the control blade bushes... Now this leads me to my question.. Are pedders brand of urethane bushes worth the price... Because i can get the control blade (brand not specified) and inner control arm (whiteline) bushes for about 240 delivered from ebay as apposed to the 600 from pedders? has anyone tried the ones from ebay with any opinions? Thanks Corey

Mate, get a second opinion. My son had a bad experience with pedders.

From my experience steer clear of pedders.
Get the superpro (blue ones). You will find they are not as harsh as nolathane and are also easily installed without a press.

Pedders are full of crap. They will charge what they think they can get. Go back and tell em to stick it.

Both those bushes are common failure points on these cars. They are poorly designed and heavily voided and dont last very long. Designed entirely for comfort, rather than life and control.

I had to do all of mine by the 35,000km mark. They were dead. So if you have more than say 50,000km on yours, there's a very high chance they are dead.

Pedders just rebadged and over price Nolathane stuff. And Whiteline stuff is the same as Nolathane. Nolathane, Whileline and Noltec are all owned by the same people now, and they share parts.

I have Nolathane in the front and Superpro in the back. Cant say either is good or better than one another. I've always used Nolathane stuff in the past and never had a problem. And as twase said, most of their stuff is not metal cased, so you can do it yourself in a garage.

Also, if you're going to go to that expense, id do the front upper inner bushes too. The front one of those is heavily voided too, and makes for poor handling.

As far as bushes go, I tend to stick with the OEM stuff except on sway bars, I just feel a bit more confident knowing there are points in the suspension that will take a bit of shock from forces other than up and down. With shocks and springs, I spent $375 or so on some SL springs and short stroke Comfort Gas Shocks for the rear in my old AU and it was excellent. I didnt go for the GSR's or equivelant because I drive on some fairly nasty roads reasonably regularly, same reason as opting for the rubber bushes. Ive never had a problem with Pedders shocks and springs, Ive never bought their bushes as I usually stick to Nolathane branded stuff on the bars.

afaik pedders all use nolathane brand bushes, i have seen some nolathane stuff fall apart, but that also could be due to lack of grease used on installation?

I was told many yrs ago by one of the original Selby brothers that Nolathane was good for pivot type but not too good where they have to absorb any shock

Nolathane haven't made the orange ones for many yrs now they make the red ones which are much better/softer, now available from most Auto parts stores as are Super pro etc..

hey mate, have a chat with these guys - http://www.wholesalesuspension.com.au/, they are a forum sponsor over on fordxr6turbo.com and Pat is alot of help. I am pretty sure they use super pro and he has done extensive testing with these bushes and are a good compromise between comfy and durability. I will actually be visiting them this weekend for entire inspection on all my bushes as it wudnt surprise me if all mine are stuffed. I know they are interstate for you but might still be cheaper even with freight.

Cheers
Phil
