Buy a MkII, a lot of the problems were ironed out by then

yeah i would but they are to far out of my price range and i am really keen to get into a new car. are the problems with the gaps in the dash and things like that inside that car really as bad as peolpe say they are. i have only been in a bf and i have not yet started hunting for my ba so i have not been inside one yet. i am contemplating waiting till i can afford the mont ghia with a 6 spees auto in it but that will take ages and i really want a new car. other then little fix ups what is the diff between mark 1 and 2 ba's

whats your budget? where are you looking? probably get mk2 onwards pretty cheaply at the auctions.

ive driven a couple of ba mk2's (xt rental and a mates typhoon). the rental was holding up pretty well, no squeaks or rattles, and the transmission still shifted nicely which is a good sign considering it had highish clicks and its a rental!

yeah fowles is in altona.

you cant drive, or even start the car. but alot of them would still have plenty of new car warranty on them. its the risk you take, a much lower purchase price than from a dealer, but u cant do much of an inspection on them.

its not really dodgy, they jsut go thru a million cars, theres no wayt hey could let people test drive them all. you could save alot of money though, and on near new cars, the risk is fairly low

you can start the car, just make sure that its during inspection times and when there isnt any dealers around. I started every car I was interested in. One way to check if the driveline could be dodgy is just start it, put it into reverse, then back to park and back into reverse. If it bangs or shudders both times you put it in reverse, leave it.
