thanks for the info low ryda,

we started at "0" but then when we mearured the lift on number 1 valve at tdc trying to get 0.063" but it wasnt. retarding the cam timing 1 notch gave us exactly this result.

hmm maybe ill bump it back up to the centre and see what happens.

the chip is a chiptorque chip. they retail for around 6 or 700. i got mine off ebay and sent it away to get reflashed- so i saved a few hundred.

yes but did you measure off the rocker or the valve because theres a hla between them. for readings of that increment i wouldn't trust measuring off anything but the valve.
i tried myself and it's a a** off a job, i had two dial indicators, one for the valve lift and one with a long probe to find tdc through the spark plug hole.because i'm lazy i gave up, put it all in and turned it over by hand to make sure nothing was majorly wrong, then kicked it over.
