hey, i have a couple questions for anyone who has a cam in there car and still have the stock comp. i've got an EL fairmont with the basics. i had all the stuff ready to do the cam job like vernier gear, XR6 springs and stage 1 crow cam. But i talked to my EFI expert and he told me that it would run like s**t cos of the map sensor would cause it to flood and have a s**t idle. but now i've looked into it a bit more it seems not. please help.

ur EFI expert is a noob.

alot of EL's on this forum are running cams with standard computers.

A stage 1 cam is small as anyway. put the bastard in and dont worry.

the ecu will have trouble with a cam if it is a very lump cam, and therefore has a fluctuating vacuum at idle,, this is what confuses the map sensor, as revs increase vacuum becomes much more steady and the map sensor should understand..

you can definately run a cam on a stock ecu, you just cant go tooo wild..
