This is a quick question for puttin in a new camshaft in a used car. how much strain would it put on the other engine components. this engine has done about 230k's, with about 200 of them country k's.

Camshaft, valve springs, and vernier will be put in.

Most noteably, valve springs, but seeing as you've got a new set lined up, you should be o.k.

Understand that a bigger cam will (should) produce more power and torque, therefore it's going to put extra strain on pretty much everything...

I had an Rspec3 in a dying 300,000km ED motor.
Never skipped a beat. It was slow as all f**k, but it still ran, even after I skewered the car on a guardrail.
If the motor is in good condition (km's don't tell the whole story), then she should be sweet.

Camshaft shouldnt put any direct stress on components outside of the valvetrain - which you have already identified for replacement.

However, the extra RPM which is likely to result will put excess load on.... everything...

Sounds like the motor is in good shape.

No Vernier gear, the engine was just f**k basically.
The cam really started pulling at about 3k.
If I had of advanced it a few degrees with a camgear it might have felt better.
But my cammed old motor feels slow compared to the stock motor in my new ED.
Me thrashing the a** of that other car since I had it probably didn't help.
