a ram pod works by being exposed to incoming air..

ie air being "forced" into the pod
usally a scoop/ducting is used to allow the airflow ( usally from high speed )
to be directed to the pod

the thereoy is that the amount of air and the air pressure will pressurise the intake system rather than being in a vacum and allow more air into the engine
more air=more fuel= more power :)

But if you place it under the bonnet like in that picture then you will get nothing from it.

cold air = good power..
where that pod was placed on the end of the snorkle was bad... lots heat drawn into the intake.... which is bad!!! is better the pod shielded inside the factory airbox.... with a custom/home job 3 inch cold air intake plumbed into the bottom of the box n an xr snorkel added..
